Richmond Centre

Uniqlo, a brand that has become a global phenomena, opened in Richmond Centre in March of 2018

Am I the only one who is utterly obsessed with stationary? Someone give me all the cute pens and notepads!

This was my first time in Muji, and needless to say, pen heaven?

If you love to shop, CF Richmond Centre is the place to be. I moved to British Columbia in September of 2017 for school, and soon became acquainted with places to shop around the area. To me, a mall needs to be an all inclusive experience. A place where I not only shop, but grab a bite to eat when I need a little break! With over 200 stores and services, Richmond Centre is one of the Lower Mainland's best shopping experiences. From dining, to spa services, and the most forward brands in fashion, Richmond Centre has it all.

Richmond Centre is big, but it's not that big. As a Fashion Marketing student, apart of me feels that it is my duty to make frequent visits to malls to see what is upcoming and new, what is hitting the shelves, and forecast new trends. Richmond Centre gets better and better, trying new brands, all while making renovations to stores such as Zara that perform well.

If you live in Richmond, you know that this is a predominantly Asian community. From the best fish market by the water at Steveston Village, to incredible sushi throughout, and ofcourse, high end fashion, Richmond encompasses a lot of Asian culture and heritage. Richmond centre in 2018 brought in two of the most talked about brands: Muji and Uniqlo.

Uniqlo's Mission Statement:

"Our commitment to making great clothing begins with sourcing ethically produced materials, minimizing environmental impacts, putting workers first, and developing new materials and technologies with better futures in mind. In addition, we promote a second life for our clothing through recycling and reuse of clothing. From beginning to end, we are committed to making high quality clothing in a responsible manner."

Muji's Mission Statement:

VISION: Become a sustainable global company that offers Pleasant Life to customers.
MISSION: Dedicated to create a simple, elegant, and comfortable lifestyle at reasonable prices to customers

In a world of fast fashion, it is rather impressive that Richmond Centre brought on two new stores (both originating in Japan). From the mission statements above, one can conclude that both brands are ambassadors for sustainable and ethical fashion.

If you have free time this weekend, you know where to go!

Till next time,

Komal Randhawa
